Sean is a serial entrepreneur, technologist, and investor with deep expertise in product development and market insights. In 2012, he co-founded Crossfader.fm, which was backed by top-tier investors such as Kleiner Perkins, Index Ventures, and Google Ventures. He later joined NVOLV as Head of Product, a leading mobile app provider for events.

As an investor, sean shifted his focus to the convergence of bits and atoms. Since 2016, he has been an active advisor and angel investor. After generating substantial returns on his personal investments, he launched an alpha test fund in 2017, which evolved into Starship Ventures. As the visionary behind Starship, Sean was the first believer in companies now backed by prominent investors like Sequoia, Khosla Ventures, and a16z. Notable Starship portfolio companies include Atmos, BRINC, Pipedream Labs, Rainmaker, and Reflect Orbital.

Hugo is the COO at Starship, where he has been instrumental in building the venture capital firm since early 2022. Alongside Founder and General Partner Sean Hoge, they successfully raised over $30 million for Starship’s debut fund, establishing the firm as a prominent force in early-stage deep tech venture capital. At Starship, Hugo manages operations and cultivates relationships with the firm’s capital partners, leveraging his extensive background in public markets and venture capital.

Prior to joining Starship, Hugo spent nine years in public markets, where he led operations and sales teams on the sell-side. He later transitioned to Square Global Markets, where he became a key liquidity provider for exotic and hybrid equity derivative products. His work enabled investment banks to manage and recycle risk in the inter-dealer broker market, further enhancing his reputation for navigating complex financial instruments and completing transactions.

Ryan Reynolds

Finance & Operations

Ryan is passionate about financial markets and identifying unique investment opportunities. He spent seven years in the mortgage industry where he worked for three of the largest mortgage lenders in the country. This provided a deep perspective into the housing market and the macro economic factors that impact it. Recognizing broader trends and understanding what drives them has allowed Ryan to be a successful active investor across a variety of industries.
